Shop Local in Mexico City
Tucked between the historic buildings and colorful neighborhoods lies the real soul of Mexico City—its local businesses. From bustling mercados filled with handmade crafts to tiny boutiques run by passionate artisans, shopping locally here isn’t just a way to find unique treasures—it’s a way to connect with the culture. Whether you're a curious traveler or a longtime resident, there’s something special about knowing where your money goes—and who it helps.
Below I’m sharing a few of my favourite shops by local artisans.
Casa Bosques Chocolate
Located in both Mexico City and New York, Casa Bosques sources cacao from small ranches in Mexico & Latin America to celebrate the history and culture of chocolate. These chocolate bars are beautifully made with close attention to craftsmanship and artistry. I always bring a few of these bars home as gifts for friends and it’s a hit! Check out the flavour combinations such as coffee & cardamom, puffed quinoa & coconut, or japanese sesame!

Cardon MX
Cardon, located in both Roma and Condesa, feels like stepping into an art gallery that showcases Mexican designers. Trendy, colourful, offering a range of clothing and accessories that leaves you with an elevated outfit. I picked up a leather bag from here by a local designer Juana De Mexico and it has become a staple in my closet!
Xinú
Xinú means nose in Otomi, a native Mexican language. Started by a couple, Veronica Pena and Ignacio Cadena, Xinú crafts scents that represent diversity of the north and south. The perfumery has five signature scents displayed in gorgeous locations across the city. I visited the flagship store in Polanco, and it was an experience in of itself. Stepping into Xinú feels like entering a lush garden in the middle of a city street, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainability and cherishing cyclical nature.
